Welcome to the website dedicated to minimally invasive vascular therapy (laparoscopy, endovascular, hybrid therapies and venous disease). Over the years, laparoscopy has been recognized as a safe and reliable minimally invasive technique for treatment of many thoracic and abdominal vascular conditions. Totally laparoscopic and laparoscopy-assisted techniques are now recognized as presenting significant advantages over conventional surgery in term of post-operative pain, recovery, cosmesis and return to work. Hybrid laparoscopic-endovascular techniques are being developed and are presented on this site. The role of endovascular therapy is undisputable. Critical evaluation of new developments in endovascular techniques lies among the roles of IELS. Treatment of venous disease is more and more minimally invasive with miniphlebectomies, laser therapy, RF ablation of saphenous vein and perforators, etc. This field is growing and has its place in IELS. Phlebologists of all horizons are welcome in our Society.
The website is home to three important events and hosts many other didactic sections.
1-The International Endovascular and Laparoscopic Society (IELS) has been founded in June 2007. The main objective of the Society is to establish and maintain appropriate programs of continuing medical education and professional development in minimally invasive vascular surgery and particularly in any area related to vascular laparoscopy, endovascular arterial techniques and venous therapy.
Society members are entitled to register for a free online access to the Society’s Journal, Surgical Laparoscopy, Endoscopy & Percutaneous Techniques. Content includes current and previous Journal issues, previews of upcoming articles, links and a number of other advantages.
2-The International Endovascular and Laparoscopic Congress (IELC) has been held in Québec City and New York City since 2003. It has been chosen as the Society's official meeting.
3-ILVC Hands-on Course accredited by IELS and Laval University . One of the roles of IELS is to evaluate courses being given and post them on this website as IELS recommended hands-on courses. IELS recommended hands-on courses can be seen in the appropriate section. As time goes on, more courses will be made available.
This website hosts many other didactic sections.
1.Video clips are available for online consultation.
2. The “Get Didactic Videos” section contains videos with high didactic value which can be bought online at a reasonable price. Well prepared videos with sound tracks, detailing specific procedures can be sent to the website Secretariat for evaluation in term of didactic impact. If judged as potential basic references and devoid of undue reference to industrial partners, they will be advertised in this section.
3. FAQ and References sections are available for consultation under Laparoscopy.
4. Another website section concerns laparoscopic instrumentation and another deals with laparoscopic surgical techniques.
5. In the near future new sections of this web site will deal exclusively with endovascular issues and with venous disease. Up to date information as well as online videos will be made available.
6. Other sections of this website are also worthwhile visiting.
We hope to have you participate with us in the developments which will not only modify the practice of vascular therapy but which will contribute to improve care of our patients. We also hope you will find our website instructive and invite you to give us your feedback under the "Feedback" button.
